Since EBL’s inception in 2017 we’ve always made sure to host live events for EBL finals, only missing the COVID years for obvious reasons. This makes the decision to move to an online setting so much harder as that was our goal for this Split as well, and will be our goal moving forward.

While there are a number of factors that go into this decision, the most important one was venue availability and time frame. Our usual venues were either unavailable or the time frame of the ERL finals didn’t make sense to even consider those venues, so we had to look for more sensible alternatives.
When we look to host an EBL finals event, we look for a venue that must meet certain criteria:
- Technical conditions and assembly/disassembly time;
- Competitive integrity;
- Size;
- Teams, player, fans and partner experience;
Unfortunately no venue that was available was able to deliver on all of those, while not compromising heavily in at least some areas, mainly competitive integrity (example physical space between players) and player-fan experience (either one of those not present on-site) which are areas where we don’t want to make any sort of compromises.
Be as it may, come August 12th we hope to see you guys in chat at 6pm so we can celebrate the new EBL champions and find out which team will represent us on EMEA Masters – Diamant or Cyber Wolves!
