EBL finals event canceled due to COVID-19 virus, will be played online
Due to the current situation in Serbia caused by the appearance of the COVID-19 virus, as well as the decision of the Government of the Republic of Serbia to ban indoor gatherings, the finals of the largest regional League of Legends league will be played online..
Unfortunately, the day when we crown the Balkan champions together in the crowded Kombank Hall will be celebrated from home.
We do not want to risk the health and wellbeing of our fans, players or their families.. Our responsibility to all League fans demands that we cancel the event, and move it online, so that the players can play the final matches from the safety of their homes.
In addition, even if the situation in Serbia remained relatively calm, the virus pandemic has a significant impact on international travel. The current playoff teams feature 16 players without permanent residency in Serbia, and their potential entry into the country would be at risk until the finals. The risk that a team that makes it into the finals would not be able to bring players to Belgrade is too great to consider any other options.
